This is the first step towards understanding your body’s story and creating a personalised plan for your recovery. Please select the option that’s right for you below to continue.

Your Initial Consultation: Beginning Your Journey

Taking this first step can feel like a courageous act. This first meeting is more than just a treatment; it’s the beginning of a new, more compassionate conversation with your body. It is a dedicated time for us to listen to its story, to understand its patterns and to gently invite it back towards its natural state of balance and ease.

So often, conventional treatments focus only on the site of the pain. Here, we become detectives in your own body. We look at the whole, interconnected picture—your beautiful fascial web of connective tissue (your soft skeleton). We follow the ‘why’ to its root cause, understanding how restrictions arising from an old scar or injury can create tension elsewhere. By addressing the true source of the imbalance, we can create change that is not just temporary, but profound and lasting.

What to Expect From Your First Consultation

  • We Begin with Your Story: A thorough 90 minute session where we have a deep conversation about your history, your areas of discomfort and what you hope to achieve.
  • A Holistic Assessment: We will gently look at your whole body in motion and at rest to observe your unique postural and movement patterns.
  • Gentle, Responsive Therapy & An Empowering Plan: The hands-on aspect of the therapy is a direct response to what your body needs, followed by a simple self-care plan to support your journey at home.

Your Questions, Answered

It’s completely natural to have questions when you’re starting a new journey with your body. I’ve gathered some of the most frequently asked ones here to help bring some clarity. If your question isn’t answered below, please don’t hesitate to book a Free Discovery Call to chat.

Your initial consultation is a comprehensive 90 minute session where we take the time to have a deep conversation about your history, conduct a holistic assessment of your posture and movement and begin our hands-on therapeutic work. It’s where we map out our journey together. A Follow-Up Consultation is a 60-minute session designed to build upon our previous work, respond to how your body has shifted and progress your self-care plan.

Comfort is key! Please wear comfortable, unrestrictive clothing that you can move in easily, much like you would for a gentle yoga or Pilates class. Leggings or soft trousers and a comfortable top are perfect. We work with the body as a whole, so being able to move freely is very important. If your site of pain or scarring is in he neck, shoulder and upper chest area, wearing a sports bra is similar is recommended. For pain or scars on the lower limbs, wearing shorts is recommmended. This is to allow application on hands-on therapy whilst maintaining your comfort.

Absolutely not. My entire approach is built on the principle that true, lasting change happens when the body feels safe enough to let go, not when it’s being forced. This work is a gentle invitation, never a demand. While we may work with tender areas, the techniques are applied with mindful awareness and should feel deeply releasing and restorative, not painful.

Clients report leaving the appointment feeling lighter, more spacious and with a greater sense of ease and connection to their body. It’s not uncommon to feel deeply relaxed and perhaps a little tired as your nervous system settles. We always recommend taking it easy for the rest of the day and drinking plenty of water to help your body integrate the changes. It is not uncommon to sometimes experience some mild tissue soreness in the 48hrs following treatment as old, stuck tissues start to move, but this shouldn’t last and will be replaced by a restoration of freedom to the area.

This is an important question. Your body has its own unique story and timeline for healing. Some people experience significant relief and gain the awareness they need after just one or two sessions. Those with more complex or long-held patterns may benefit from a series of sessions to gently unwind the different layers. My aim is always to empower you with the awareness and tools you need to become your own body’s expert, not to create dependency. We will always discuss a plan that feels right for you which will be revisited and updated regularly throughout the course of treatment.

While a traditional massage can be wonderful for general relaxation, our work is more like becoming a detective in your body. We focus on the ‘why’ behind your discomfort. We work with the entire fascial web (your body’s interconnected ‘onesie’) to address the root cause of your patterns, rather than just chasing the symptoms. We blend hands-on therapy with mindful movement re-education, empowering you with the tools to create lasting change yourself.

Yes, absolutely. In fact, this approach is often a game-changer for those with hypermobility. Being hypermobile myself and having worked in fascia research arenas, I draw on a deep knowledge of conditions such as hypermobility and Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS). Instead of focusing on stretching, we work on understanding fascial variations and how to create joint stability and muscle strength. We teach your body to find its end range safely and build the structural integrity it needs to feel supported, which can be profoundly helpful.

Think of it this way. At school we’re taught our bodies are like a stack of building blocks and that it’s our bones that prop us up. The Biotensegrity Theory shows us that we’re actually more like a beautifully constructed tent, where the poles (our bones) are floating and held in place by the tension in the fabric (our fascia). It means we’re designed to be light, spacious, and incredibly strong and this therapy is all about helping restore these qualities in our bodies.

A doctor’s referral is not required to book a consultation. However, if you are under medical care for a specific condition or have had recent surgery, it is always a good practice to inform your doctor that you are seeking complementary therapy. All scars must be 6-8 weeks post op and be either signed off or authorised by your Surgeon or Consultant to have hands-on work. Please also book a free discovery call to talk through your journey to date and any current care plan you are under.

For any scar therapy, it is essential that your wound is fully healed and you have been signed off by your surgeon or healthcare professional (not less than 6-8 weeks post-op). On the other end of the spectrum, it is never too late to begin. I have worked with scars that are decades old with wonderful results. The body’s capacity to change and heal is always present and I speak from personal experience as my scars were 18+ years old when I first received scar therapy.

I understand that life happens. I kindly request a minimum of 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. This allows me the time to offer the space to someone else who may be in need. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice will be charged the full session fee.
